Choosing a quality optic can be quite daunting. This is where you should focus a lot of your time and money. Before you go out and spend thousands on a custom rifle, set some aside for decent glass. Having a good idea of what purpose your rifle serves beforehand will aid you in your selection. There are several legit manufacturers of awesome long range and tactical scopes with varying levels of magnification, reticles, and other features such as illumination. You will need to decide whether you want MOA or a mil based system. There is nothing wrong with either one. Whatever you do, ensure that the reticle and turrets match! In the past, I had an older Leupold Mark 4 scope with a mil-dot reticle and MOA turrets. It is counterintuitive and requires too much thought to use correctly. Most competitive long range shooters use the Mil-Dot System (milliradian not military).
