While some may simply use a super heavy buffer and standard spring and others a more complex recoil system, I prefer the Spike’s Tactical ST-T2 buffer in conjunction with a Sprinco “Red” Spring and Spike’s Tactical Buffer Spacer. The ST-T2 is filled with Tungsten and is heavier than your standard carbine buffer. The Red Spring is color-coded for “extra power.” The Spike’s 9mm Spacer, which sits inside the back of the buffer tube, limits the travel of the bolt which makes for a shorter reset and allows for faster follow up shots. This combination is smooth, reliable and worth checking out if you’re having issues with your current setup. I wanted a stock that was strong enough to use as a weapon if needed. With that in mind, I selected the Ace (Double Star) M4 Socom Stock. Ace claims it is the strongest stock on the market and while it’s machined from 6061, it is built like a tank. The stock was very pricey but I think had I used it to mortar or club a bad guy, it would certainly meet expectations.
