The DDLES was machined out of 6061-T6 billet aluminum. The “small frame” lower receiver accepted Glock 9mm, 357 Sig and .40 S&W magazines. While 6061 is more corrosion resistant, manufacturers will use the softer aluminum instead of 7075 because its cheaper and this part of the firearm is not under a lot of stress. The magwell was contoured to the shape of the Glock magazine thus shaving unnecessary weight. I personally would’ve liked to have seen more of a flared magwell to serve as a funnel for faster reloads. The odd paddle looking thing pictured above is the California “bullet button.” The company claimed that the bolt would hold open on the last round but it never did. While that was something I wish worked, it wasn’t a deal breaker. DDLES did not have a reputation for good customer service and quickly fell off the map. A company by the name of Quarter Circle 10 is currently offering the same lower made from 7075.
