The Blowout Bag (Tactical Medkit)

When the chest receives a penetrating wound from a gunshot or flying debris in an explosion, a condition called Tension Pneumothorax often occurs. This is a buildup of positive pressure in the plural cavity causing one or both lungs to collapse. This collapse can put pressure on the heart, affecting venous return. In short, the lungs followed by the heart, will fail and the person will quickly die unless something is done. The first thing we have is a twin pack of HyFin (NAR) chest seals, one for an entrance wound and the second for an exit wound. These seals will stick to a wet and bloody body and have one way check valves in them to let high pressure air out while stopping airflow back into the chest.
