The Blowout Bag (Tactical Medkit)
9 of 17

Your typical wound caused by a high powered rifle will have a relatively small entrance and a much larger exit with possibly shredded tissue or severed arteries. In the past, it was very difficult to stop the bleeding caused from these types of wounds but, with our nation at war for so many years, we have seen some great advances in trauma medicine. The Celox Z-Pack Gauze is one of these new advances. This gauze is meant to be packed directly into large exit wounds with pressure applied right to the severed arteries themselves. The technique, although fundamentally simple, requires training beyond basic first aid comprehension. When in contact with blood and body fluids, chemicals within the gauze cause the blood to clot quickly, greatly helping to control hemorrhage. This gauze has a radio opaque stripe on it making it visible in x-rays to help doctors identify it.
