Gun Geek: SHOT Show 2016 (pt 1)

The Barrett booth had some mighty impressive hardware in display including this beast. I’m not even sure it is legal for me to have a picture of this M82A1 .50 BMG in California. We tried to get a picture holding it, but it was a team effort to lift it and the picture was just too awkward.

Boker Knives had a new mini version of the Lucas Burnley designed Kwaiken. This model is equipped with a flipper tab and the blade just flies out of the handle. A perfect EDC at a great price of around $120 will get you VG-10 blade steel, titanium handles, and ball bearing pivot.

Magpul had some great new offerings on display including the new UBR 2.0 and the PRS3 stock. These two stocks have been the flagship stock assemblies for Magpul for quite some time, but that did not stop them from finding ways to make improvements. The UBR 2.0 has been lightened up and made stronger all while lowering the price. The rapid prototype model of the PRS3 that was on display was a fine example of how technology has improved the product development process. While rapid prototype 3D printing is nothing new to the manufacturing industry, it is great to see functional prototypes in person. Magpul has further refined the PRS stock by adding some new features like the integrated anti swivel QD mounts, adjustable buttpad cant and height, and also added ability to mount this stock on standard adjustable buffer tubes or traditional rifle A1/A2 length buffer tubes.

The CZ USA booth was massive and filled end to end with awesome products. The real standouts for us were these new rile versions of their not approved for sale in California, Bren and Scorpion pistols. Hopefully these will make their way into a California version at some point.
