A decompression needle can save the life of a person shot in the chest, suffering from tension pneumothorax, that would die in minutes without it. The decompression needle creates a vent in the chest to reduce the positive pressure in the pleural cavity that causes the tension pneumothorax. Our kit has the ARS Decompression Needle by North American Rescue. Our military has adopted this tool as it is quick to deploy and easy to use if you have the proper training. Note again that improper use of this is very dangerous!
